San Pablo Church School Project Six New Bathrooms

On Tuesday I went to the plumbing supply house to order all the supplies for the six new bathrooms in the San Pedro San Pablo Church School. The Church and School are located in the neighborhood called La Barquita in Santo Domingo . After ordering the supplies we went to the job site and delivered the material and also met with the Priest Father Fumero. The contractor showed me what they were doing and where everything was located. The rest of the week I was getting my office setup in the Diocesan house. The Diocesan office is about 4 blocks from where I live. On Friday their was a staff meeting with the Rt. Rev. Julio C. Holguin, the current Bishop.

 Iglesia de San Pablo Proyecto Escuela, seis baños nuevos

El martes fui a la casa de suministros de plomería para ordenar todos los suministros para los seis cuartos de baño nuevos en el Colegio San Pedro Iglesia de San Pablo. La Iglesia y la escuela se encuentra en el barrio de La Barquita, en Santo Domingo. Después de ordenar los suministros que nos fuimos al lugar de trabajo y entregado el material y también se reunió con el sacerdote Padre Fumero. El contratista me mostró lo que estaban haciendo y donde todo se encuentra. El resto de la semana me estaba poniendo mi configuración de la oficina en la casa diocesana. La oficina de la diócesis es de aproximadamente 4 cuadras de donde yo vivo. El viernes fue una reunión de su personal con el Excmo. Rev. Julio C. Holguín, el actual obispo.

My First Assignment to Iglesia San Andres in Santo Domingo

This week I was assigned to the Iglesia San Andres in Santo Domingo . There was a group from the Diocese Central Gulf Coast which is part of the Florida Panhandle along with Alabama .

There were 17 people from that Diocese which for the past 4 years one week per year have been building Pews for the Iglesia San Andres the "Church in the round". Each pew had a curve to it and they probably built a hundred pews. So this week I was able to work with them. They are very professional pew builders and very spiritual people who like to make a difference. It was a great experience to work with them. They worked very hard to complete everything this year expecting next year to go to a different Church to build more pews. After we all finished our Pews the Iglesia San Andres had a special ceremony with music dancing good food and each of the Team members received a gift of thanks. It was a very moving experience to be among such a faithful group

Mi primer trabajo

Esta semana me fue asignado a la Iglesia de San Andrés, en Santo Domingo. Había un grupo de la diócesis central de la costa del golfo que forma parte de la región del Panhandle de la Florida junto con Alabama
Hubo 17 personas de esa diócesis que en los últimos 4 años una semana al año han sido la construcción de bancas para la iglesia de San Andrés de la "Iglesia en la ronda". Cada banco tenía una curva a la misma y que probablemente se construyó un centenar de bancas. Así que esta semana tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con ellos. Son constructores de bancas muy profesionales y personas muy espirituales que les gusta hacer la diferencia. Fue una gran experiencia trabajar con ellos. Trabajaron muy duro para completar todo lo que este año espera el año que viene para ir a una Iglesia diferente para construir más bancas. Después de que todos terminaron las bancas de la iglesia de San Andrés tuvo una ceremonia especial con la comida buena música de baile y cada uno de los miembros del equipo recibió un regalo de agradecimiento. Fue una experiencia muy emocionante estar entre un grupo de fieles.

My Arrival in the Dominican Republic

I arrived in the Dominican Republic and headed to my apartment. Put my luggage in the apartment and went to Carnival about 3 blocks from where I live. The Costumes were beautiful; the Music was loud and had a great beat.  It was a great way to be introduced to the Dominican Republic. The next couple of days I unpacked and started setting up my apartment, went for very long walks after dinner with a friend from the church. Went to a place by the Ocean where they have an outside Gym with great music and a place for kids to play it was very beautiful. Practiced my Spanish with the people who work here, went to Church and I am getting settled in for work on Monday.
